Discrimination and Stigma Still Linger on This World AIDS Day

December 1 is World AIDS Day. It seems like we should have a cure for HIV and AIDS by now. Especially, since the Federal Government and several drug companies were able to develop a vaccine in record time for the COVID-19 virus. We may not have a cure for HIV; however, there are so many antiretroviral drugs available, which has improved and prolonged the lives of so many people living with HIV.

Unfortunately, stigma, fear, and discrimination are still barriers to reducing the transmission of HIV. Don’t let stigma and fear be a barrier for you to talk about HIV testing and treatment. Learn how you can make a difference with ending fear and stigma, by visiting www.cdc.gov/StopHIVStigma.

Be well!
